The Nintendo Wii is family fun for everyone. That is what I have always found to be so great about the Wii. The best Wii family games require active engagement and physical activity, but there are so many games available on the console which are appropriate for children, and family fun games are not at all hard to come by on the Wii.
The best family games for game night blend physical activity, interaction, and education for a night of laughing, lunging and learning. Fun family games for the Wii encompass all of this. For those unfamiliar, the Wii console has a sensor which picks up on the movements of individuals holding the wireless controller. The best Wii family games are not passive, mindless ways to spend time on the couch. They require you to stand up and move in relation to the game you are playing.
For example, if you are playing the bowling game (considered by many to be one of the best Wii games for the family), when it is your turn to roll the ball, while holding the remote, you swing back your arm back and then forward in simulation of actual bowling. On the screen before you, your ball will go the direction you aimed the controller. However, if you ask me, the best Wii family games are much more physically demanding than that.
On game night in my house, I prefer that the family play the Guinness World Records video game. I find this to be the best of the best Wii family games, due to the physical exertion it comes with, the educational facts often relayed during game play, and the lessons in ambition it offers my children. The best Wii family games do not distract from real life, but they teach lessons about it.
