So, here goes. You’re exercising. You’re exercising hard, like 40 or 50 minutes a day. You’re sweating, it’s soaking your clothes, you’re feeling icky and yucky, and you’re starting to get a headache. You may think it’s because of your body’s exertion, all the muscles and the mental stress of exercising that hard, but it’s something different:
You need water.
Water is one of the most powerful things a person can ingest into their body. Guidelines state that the American individual should drink between seven and eight glasses of water per day. These are eight ounce glasses, so the total is 56 ounces to 64 ounces per day. While that may seem like a lot of water, it really is a small amount.
Water has many powerful statistics that show its effects. It can reduce headaches almost instantly. It can refresh a person and get them to work faster. It can rejuvenate the body, giving life to the muscles and to the cardiovascular system. It has a powerful effect, both mentally and physically.
Here are the statistics:
- Water makes up about two-thirds of who we are, and influences 100 percent of the processes in our body.
- In a study on the effects of water on headaches, participants experienced ?total relief? from their headaches within 30 minutes of drinking water (two cups, on average).
- Chronic dehydration has been called ?the hidden epidemic? and an estimated 75% of all North Americans are chronically dehydrated.
- Hard water is high in mineral salts, especially calcium and magnesium ions. Water hardness is measured in grains per gallon, with a degree of hardness ranging from 1 to over 10.
The truth is, Americans, in general, are not drinking enough water. As the statistic states above, chronic dehydration is considered “the hidden epidemic” and affects up to 75% of all people in North America. This is significant as there are many negative health consequences of drinking too little water.
Dehydration can cause dizziness, lack of steadiness, fatigue, headaches, irritability of mood, sluggishness, weakness, and more. It can lead to heat strokes, sudden rises in body temperature, lack of mobility, and more. It can put someone down for a time, forcing them to lie down and drink water to reduce symptoms. It can cause major issues.
There are many ways to reduce dehydration. Drinking water is the main goal but many people in America forget to drink water. With work commitments and major responsibilities to manage, Americans can easily forget to have that one glass of water per hour during work. But there are some solutions.
One of the solutions to drink more water is to use a new mobile app. This mobile app features a plant in a pot and the mobile app user is supposed to water it every couple of hours. There are numerous glasses of water featured. The idea is that the app reminds the user when to drink a glass of water by notifying when to water the plant.
There are other ways too. One solution for avoiding dehydration is to set a reminder on a mobile device every hour, hour and a half, or two hours to drink a glass of water. This is a good reminder that people can stick to during their busy lives. Another option is to carry a bottle of water and refill it every time it gets low.
Having the physical reminder to drink the water in the bottle is helpful for getting the right amount of hydration per day.
There are, of course, other issues. There are issues with water quality, as seen in many places around the country, notably Flint, Michigan. Water can contain impurities, including chemicals that are dangerous. In these cases, it is possible to use a water filter or water filtration system. Water softeners are also possible.
Water filtration works like this. There is a filtration system that is placed over the source of water. The water filtration system may have a series of holes that water can run through before it falls into the glass. The water filtration system filters out the impurities of the water as they go through the holes.
A water filtration system can reduce the amount of impurities in the water. The water filtration system is a system that makes the water healthier to drink.
