Halloween may have come and gone, but you don’t have to wait another year to bust out your favorite scary and gory decor! Whether decorating for Halloween or throwing a viewing party for your favorite zombie-themed TV show, you can allow yourself to be as frightening or disgusting as humanly possible because honestly, it’s allowed and expected.
If you’ve never decorated for a holiday or theme party before, you’re in for a real treat (and definitely not a trick!). There are so many things you can use to decorate for Halloween that will make your house look super spooky. Let’s take a look at a few of our favorites!
Mirrors and Wall Hangings
One of the easiest things you can do when decorating is adding some decor to your mirror or wall hangings. By writing creepy phrases on your mirror with lipstick, or by hanging a few creepy mugshot pictures on your wall, you’re guaranteed to spook your guests. Just remember, though, when hanging a picture or other piece of wall art, Driven By Decor says you must keep it centered. Keeping it centered at eye level is usually 56 inches to 60 inches from the floor. You can even drape fake cobwebs from the art to give it more of an old, haunted house effect.
Make it Gory
Another thing you can do when decorating your home to make it gory is by dripping fake blood all over your house. Halloween is notorious for being gory and disgusting, so this is one holiday where you don’t have to worry about everything being perfect or even beautiful looking. Take the fake blood and put it in the sinks, jars, and vases. You can even paint your hand red and put your “bloody” handprints all over the house — just make sure you’re not using any permanent paints or inks!
Pillows and Throws
One final thing you can do to spice your home up for Halloween is using holiday-themed pillows and throw blankets as decor. An easy home design trick is to take any Halloween-themed pillows and throw them on your couch and bed. This is an easy home decor hack which won’t take a lot of time to execute. You can also use throw blankets with pumpkins and ghosts all over them. Using the blankets and pillows are an easy way to decorate without having to create a big mess.
Halloween comes with a ton of different options for home decorating, but that doesn’t mean you’re limited to using these ideas once per year. You can go in many different directions with a lot of different items. If you’re unsure of what to do, take a look at some of the suggestions listed above!
